Recent Volunteers at Belize Botanic Gardens
Here for just two weeks, Emma came as part of her work placement for the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh diploma in horticulture. In this short time she managed to help us in a number of ways, whipping the nursery into shape, assisting the new nursery care taker in developing new stocking systems and helping to reorganize the orchid collection.

Mary Foley and Rona Ward spent one month with us at the Belize Botanic Gardens. They had just completed the Horticulture training at the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland.
Rona assisted with every section in the garden. Doing anything in a given day from the ever present nursery work where she was able to turn chaos into order, to orchid care to working on the new Maya house for the Plants of the Maya display. Rona preformed a million and one hort chores from tough to tedious and managed to out work the crew and smile at the same time.
Meanwhile, Mary was busy developing the Valley of Peace Environmental Education program for all levels of the program Infant 1 to Standard 6. This covers monthly visits to the school during the school yea, so it was an incredible amount of work which she managed to complete then she put her work into action for the October trip out to Valley of Peace where she was a hit with students and staff.
